Pink Leads Knights Over Lions

Portland, Ore. | Darbi Pink led the 4-7, 1-2 CCC Knights to their first conference win on Tuesday night as WPU defeated Multnomah 66-32. Pink managed to score 20 points, dish out 4 assists and snatch 4 steals in just 24 minutes of play.

The Senior Captain was one of three Knights to score in double-digits; Courtney Jackson had 13 points and Gabriella Bruno had 11 while every player that clocked minutes for the Knights got on the scoreboard. Mya Kirzy grabbed 7 boards and shot 3-4 from the free-throw line.

WPU got out to a quick 14-point lead in the first 4 minutes of play and never looked back. Thirteen of Pink's 20 points came in the first half, outscoring Multnomah by herself.

Just as it seemed the Lions' defense had contained Pink, Courtney Jackson stepped up, scoring 10 of her 13 in the second quarter. The Lions just couldn't seem to find the bottom of the net as they headed into the locker room with a 20-47 deficit.

After the hot defensive start for the Knights, the pace of play slowed down in the second half as they used the time to run their offense and move the ball. The Lions sent the Knights to the line 12 times in the second half and WPU converted on 8 of them; scoring 8 of the second-half 19 points from the strike.

The Warner Pac defense forced 22 Lions turnovers and held them to 24.4% shooting. The Knights shared the ball well tonight, assisting on 14 of the 22 made field goals.

Multnomah was led by Erykah Campbell's 10 points, 7 boards and 3 blocks.

The Knights will host the Wolves of Walla Walla University in game one of two for the weekend on Friday for a noon tip-off at C.C. Perry Gymnasium.
