Knights Take Care of Business Against Wolves

Portland, Ore. | The Knights moved to 7-5 and 3-1 in CCC play with their 93-71 victory over Walla Walla on Friday afternoon.

For the second game in a row, seven Knights scored in double-digits; led by KJ Bosco, the Portland native and senior transfer out of Western Washington with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists; this was Bosco's first game of the season for the Knights. JD Esters and Miles Brown both finished with 14, Kadeem Strickland and Jalen Ballard with 13, and Stephon Shaw with 11.

To start the game, Walla Walla jumped out to a quick 7-4 lead before the Knights jumped back and took the lead with back-to-back KJ Bosco threes. The Wolves came back to tie the game at 16 with 14:10 left in the first half, but Bosco wasn't having it, nailing a 25-footer to take back the lead but Walla Walla continued to fight, managing to tie it once again at 19 only to be answered by a corner three from Stephon Shaw.

With half-time approaching and just under 10 seconds remaining in the half, the Knights lead by as much as 16 points; but the Wolves scored 5-straight points including a buzzer-beating three to head into the break with the momentum.

In the second half, WWU was able to cut the 11-point halftime lead to just 4 before the leadership of the Warner Pac Point Guard JD Esters took control; scoring 7 of the next 13 points to extend the lead to 15 and the eventual 22-point victory.

The Knights had their best shooting performance of the season, shooting 52.5% from the field and assisting on 24 of the 32 made field goals. Warner Pac managed to shoot 80% from the free-throw line, led by Jalen Ballard's 4-4 kind of night.

WWU was led by Zayne Browning's 25 points, hitting all six of his free throws.

The Knights will host the Wolves for the second game of the weekend to close out 2019. Tip-off is set for 8:30pm in CC Perry Gymnasium.
