PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific held Northwest Christian without a field goal in the 3rd quarter, and pulled away for the 59-47 win in CCC action at Bart Valentine Court tonight.
The Knights move into sole possession of 5th place in the CCC standings with five games left in the regular season.
It was a tale of two halves, as the host Knights (13-9, 9-6 CCC) were the team struggling to score early in the game. WP couldn't cope with NCU's pressure defense, finishing the first half shooting 25 percent (9 of 36) and trailing 27-23 at the break.
The script was flipped in the 3rd quarter, as the visiting Beacons (9-16, 6-10 CCC) went 0 of 15 in the period, allowing WP to move out to a 40-30 lead heading into the 4th quarter. The Knight press also began to take hold, eventually forcing 30 turnovers and collecting 19 steals.
Warner Pacific extended the gap out to as many as 16 points in the final period, and claimed the important CCC win.
Deepika Kapil led the host Knights with 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Gaby Bruno added 17 points off the bench.
Bailey Allen racked up another 5 steals, and now sits at 196 for her career. Jillian Ziesler holds the WP career record with 201.
