Warriors Offense Too Much for Knights Men's Soccer in 4-1 Defeat

Portland, Ore. | The Warner Pacific Knights hosted the Corban University Warriors in a CCC match-up Friday afternoon.

The Knights were looking to rebound back from a tough loss at Rocky Mountain College last Sunday by beating a very good Corban team. The match-up seemed to be both equally physical and quick, as both teams started the match pushing quickly towards one another's goal, exchanging a set of yellow cards within the first twenty minutes of play.

The first goal of the match came for the Warriors, who scored off of a free kick just outside the box after a yellow card for the Knights on the attack. The half continued to be a hard-fought physical battle as each team held their own. In the 42nd minute, Knights Jr. Forward, Arturo Bahena, was able to send the equalizing goal past the Warriors keeper off of a deflection-turned-assist by Crystyan Lorenzo. It seemed as though the match would be one-all heading into halftime, but with .36 seconds to spare, the Warriors netted their second goal, putting them up 2-1 at halftime.

As the temperature dropped and the rain began to fall, the second half looked much like the first; physical. The Knights and the Warriors continued to battle despite the dreadful weather and the fourth and final goal for the Warriors came off of a set Corner Kick header, sealing the victory.

The Knights will host Northwest Christian University on Saturday night, looking to pick up their second conference win under the lights of the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex. The match will start at 7 PM.
