Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Abby Wilson, WPU Sports Information Coordinator (Interim)

Knights Swept on Night Two of Opening Weekend

It was a dreary Portland day both in and outside of the gym as the 1-4 Warner Pacific University Knights fell to the 3-7 Geoducks of The Evergreen State College in three straight sets.

The Geoducks came out firing with four quick kills to take a 5-1 lead before the Knights clawed their way back. TESC dominated the set going on a 8-0 run, which clinched their victory, as the Knights fell 12-25.

Set two didn't provide much different of a result as the Geoducks started off the set with a 7-0 run from which the Knights could never quite catch up. Much like Friday night's defeat, WPU didn't have much of an answer for the front row of TESC who managed to rack up 10 blocks for the night, helping them claim their 25-13 victory.

After two quick sets it seemed as though the Geoducks had lost their steam a bit, from which Knights were able to capitalize on, battling back and forth until the end. Exchanging one kill for another, WPU made it evident they weren't going down easily, as Seniors Audree Gormanson and Macy DuCoeur kept the Knights alive with their strong attacks from both sides. The set remained tight before TESC sealed the deal with a 25-19 victory, closing out the weekend.

The Knights will be back in the gym this week preparing to head to Klamath Falls and Ashland to take on the Owls of Oregon Tech on Friday, 09/13 and the No. 10  Southern Oregon Raiders on Saturday, 09/14.

Junior Mercedes Massey held the back line together with seven digs on the night.
Seniors Lauren Jones, Audree Gormanson and Macy DuCoeur led the Knights with four kills.

TESC's Renita Gray led all players with 12 kills.
