Pink Moves to No. 2 All-Time in 3-Point FG's

Portland, Ore. | Sinking three from deep on Saturday night, Senior Darbi Pink moved her way up to number two all-time in 3-point field goal makes for Warner Pacific with 177.

Pink, along with Gabriella Bruno, led the Knights in scoring with 15 as the team bounced back from a tough loss to Northwest with a 64-56 victory over The Evergreen State College on Saturday night.

Evergreen came out quick and aggressive, taking advantage of a slow awakening Warner Pacific squad and jumping out to a quick 9-5 lead over the Knights. As the tempo started to level out and the Knights began to find their rhythm, Courtney Jackson hit a pair of back-to-back threes to tie and eventually take a 3-point lead with 2:30 remaining in the first quarter. The Knights held on to the lead for the remainder of the contest. To close out the first ten minutes of play, Warner Pac went on a 10-0 run and ended the first quarter with a 19-12 lead.

The second quarter was dominated by what seems to be the big-three for the Knights lately; Bruno, Pink and Jackson, who all three combined for all but one second quarter point as the Knights outscored the Geoducks 11-7 in the quarter to head into the break with a 13-point lead.

Warner Pacific didn't relent coming out of the intermission as they continued to run and gun, stretching the lead to the largest it had been, 19, right at the end of the 30-minute mark. Frustration seemed to be setting in on the Geoducks as they fouled Payton Whitmore who launched a 30-footer at the buzzer, and then proceeded to get a technical foul after the play.
With triple zeroes on the clock, the Knights had a chance to get five free points. They converted on 4-5 FT's.

Despite the late third quarter theatrics, the Geoducks hung around, remaining aggressive and finding holes in the WPU defense. Beginning to trap the first pass, Evergreen began frazzling the Knight offense, forcing silly errors and converting on them. All of a sudden, the 19-point lead was dwindling and with 1:41 left to play, the lead had shrunk to eight. With nerves sparking in CC Perry Gymnasium, the Knights got the ball to Bruno, who has a way of attacking hard and drawing fouls. She did just that with 29 seconds remaining and sunk the two free-throws to give breathing room and the Knights defeated the Geoducks to move to 6-5 in CCC play and 9-10 overall.

In addition to Pink and Bruno's 15, Courtney Jackson scored 10 points. Samantha Morgan dished out four assists while Anna Farner had five boards off the bench. The Knights passed the ball well, dishing out 18 assists on 22 made field goals.

Trinity Betoney of TESC led all scorers with 22 points and six boards.

The Knights will travel down the road to face Multnomah University on Tuesday evening at 5:30pm.
