Helena, MT | In a four-game series with Carroll College out of Helena, Montana, the Warner Pacific University Knights stole a game from the Saints to head home with a 1-3 record on the weekend.
Â
The Knights, having come off of dominant offensive performances last weekend were hoping to keep the momentum going. In the first game, they did just that; being down 0-2 through three innings, the Knights got on the board with
Rebekah Roe home run. After giving up a run the following half-inning, the Knights trailed 3-1. In the top of the sixth, a
Devinne Amesquita double rang in another run for Warner Pac and two batters later,
Emma Foster sac-flied for
Grace Utto-Galarneau to run home. The Knights had tied it up, sending it to an extra inning.
Â
In the extra inning,
Rebekah Roe stepped up to bat and on the first pitch sent the ball sailing over the fence for the go-ahead homer. The next batter doubled and advanced on a stolen base and with another sac-fly, the runner came in. The Knights closed out the 8-inning contest with a 5-3 victory over the Saints.
Â
In the next two games, the Saints only allowed two combined hits. In game two of day one, the game was tied 1-1 after six innings but unable to send it into extra innings like the first, the Saints hit in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off run. After day one, the series was tied 1-1.
Â
Day two, however, was in favor of the Saints from the start. In the first game, the Knights gave up 15 hits, as opposed to their one and after six innings, fell to the Saints in a 0-8 contest.
Â
Game two was a closer contest, a slug fest. The Knights took the 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Saint equalized in the bottom of that inning, then going on to take a 2-1 lead through two. The Knights responded in the fourth inning with two runs to take the 3-2 lead. In a tough sixth inning, the Knights gave up two home-runs, each being 2-run home runs and an additional run, sending the Saints ahead 7-3 with one inning to play.
Â
In the final inning of play, the Knights came back fighting, ultimately scoring three runs with the help of an
Emma Foster double RBI,
Makenzie Kimura single RBI and an
Emma Foster advance on a throw. With a runner on third to tie the game, the Saints were able to get the strike-out and send the Knights to Portland with an 11-6 and 3-3 conference record.
Â
Rebekah Roe finished the weekend with 2 HR's, 6 hits and 2 RBI's.
Grace Utto-Galarneau with 5 hits, 2 RBI's and
