Kirkland, Wash. | Warner Pacific fell to Northwest University on Saturday night 73-90.
Kadeem Strickland led the Knights in scoring with 23 points and five assists. Strickland was 5-11 from deep.
Competition was even throughout the first twenty minutes with each team battling down low and fighting for boards. The Eagles, who shot the ball extremely well (57.8%), would make a bucket but the Knights seemed to respond with one of their own.
The Eagles led until the 9:55 mark in the first half and for the remainder of the first twenty minutes, the teams battled and exchanged the lead a few times before NU took it and kept it, heading into the locker room with a five point lead.
Coming out of the break, it was clear that the Eagles wouldn't go out without a fight on their home floor, who were looking for revenge after the Knights took care of them at CC Perry Gym just a few weeks ago. NU was deadly from behind the arc, making WPU pay for any space they would give. Inside, however,
Miles Brown was having his way, getting up to the rim and past the NU bigs.
The Knights did manage to take the lead from the Eagles one last time at the 15:24 as
Miles Brown scored three of his 21. Northwest responded immediately in what would be the bucket to seal the win as the Eagles would extend the lead. Despite the efforts of Brown and Strickland, the Knights' defense just couldn't find a way to cool down the Eagles' hot shooting hand.
Warner Pacific was 46% from the field and only went to the Free Throw line six times.
Northwest outrebounded the Knights 38 to 27 and forced 14 WPU turnovers.
Miles Brown finished with 21 points and
KJ Bosco was one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 and nine.
Three Eagles scored in the 20's: Hussayn Ford with 24 points and 11 rebounds, Tanner Davis with 22 points and Ryan Hicks with 20.
The Knights fall to 13-12 (8-8 CCC) while the Eagles improve to 16-8 (11-4 CCC)
Warner Pacific will be back in CC Perry Gym for the last time in the regular season next weekend starting with Corban University on Friday and finishing with Northwest Christian on Saturday. Tip-offs for both games are set for 7:30pm.
