Knights Volleyball Drops Conference Road-Game to Beacons

Eugene, Ore. | Trying to gain traction tonight with a smaller travel crew was the Warner Pacific University Women's Volleyball team (1-16, 1-13), who put the (RV) Bushnell University Beacons on the defensive early in this one, but ultimately dropped the match in four sets, 14-25, 25-23, 12-25, 8-25.

After coming off the biggest upset of the season on Tuesday night, when they handed the #5 Corban Warriors their first loss of the year, the Beacons came out looking flat against Warner Pacific and their short-touch tactics at the net, but managed to sneak by in set one with a Bushnell victory.

However, set two proved to be costly for the Beacons, as the Knights were able to jump on every opportunity they could to earn a well-deserved set win. WPU halted a late Bushnell rally to even the match at a set apiece, capped off by a kill from senior outside hitter Grace Buchanan.

Buchanan, who came one dig away from recording another double-double, led Warner Pacific offensively with 19 kills. Three separate Knights tied for the team-high in digs, which included outside hitters Tevlin Britten & Savannah Proske, and libero Abby Alvaro-Thomas. Senior setter Shania Rose dealt out 24 assists in tonight's loss.

Stuffing the stat sheet for Bushnell was setter Makenna Northern, who had a staggering 50 assists and 16 digs for a double-double, with also 2 service aces to cap off the night. Beacons' outside hitters Cambria Lingenfelder and Halle Neumann dropped 15 and 13 kills as well, respectively.

Warner Pacific Volleyball returns to the hardwood tomorrow night at 7pm PST, where they look to pull off the road upset against the aforementioned #5 Corban University Warriors in Salem, Ore.
