PORTLAND | A poor defensive showing doomed the Warner Pacific University Women's Volleyball team (1-13, 1-10) from the beginning to end of tonight's match, as they fell to the Oregon Tech Lady Owls in straight sets, 15-25, 7-25, 11-25.
Tonight's game featured a relentless attacking barrage from Oregon Tech's front court, as the Lady Owls attacked on a blistering .567 kill percentage, which featured a season-high in the second set alone of .706. Leading the charge for the Owls was outside hitter Kaylin Talonen, who tied a career-high in kills with 10 on the evening. Middle blocker Ashley Ripplinger added 5 kills and an impressive 5 service aces to Oregon Tech's final tally as well.
Along with the offensive woes came the defensive skid they had long endured in the backcourt, as the Knights were unable to overcome 14 receiving errors and 3 service errors that lead to easy Oregon Tech points.
Senior outside hitter
Grace Buchanan continues to be the bright spot for the Knights' offense, as she had 12 kills and 4 digs tonight for Warner Pacific's efforts.
Warner Pacific Women's Volleyball will play host for the second to last home weekend of the season next Friday and Saturday, where they welcome The Evergreen State College Geoducks and Northwest University Eagles into C.C. Perry Gymnasium for 7pm and 5pm PST start times, respectively.
