Bahena Continues Conference Dominance, Nets Only Goal in Knights’ Victory over Battlin’ Bears

Billings, Mont. | Just one goal from the conference leader in the statistical category was needed for the Warner Pacific University Men's Soccer team (12-2-1) to continue its tear through the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC), as the Knights took down the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears (6-5-3, 3-5-2) earlier today, 1-0.

Senior forward Arturo Bahena netted his 11th conference goal (14th overall) on a solo play just 10 minutes into the second half of today's game, proving to be the difference maker and tacking on another to his league leading goal count. On top of increasing his conference lead in goals, Bahena also tied himself among the conference leaders in multiple offensive categories, specifically in game-winning goals as well.

A typical day for the WPU defense, as the Knights only allowed three of the 15 shots by Rocky Mountain to come anywhere close to scoring on Knights' goalkeeper Alexis Calderilla-Hurtado, who notched his conference-leading 6th shutout of the season.

Bears' midfielder Jonah Gronmayer and defender Quique Garcia each led Rocky Mountain offensively with 4 shots apiece, while goalkeeper Ryan Cornwall secured 5 saves on the one goal allowed.

WPU Men's Soccer is back at it tomorrow when they take on the University of Providence Argos in Great Falls, Mont. Knights fans can expect that game to start at 1pm MST, which is 12pm PST.
