PORTLAND | Down another key player due to injury, the Warner Pacific University Women's Volleyball team (1-15, 1-12) lost tonight's conference matchup to the Northwest University Eagles (8-10, 7-6) in four sets, 20-25, 25-22, 16-25, and 13-25.
With yet another injury devastating this Knights lineup, Head Coach
Nels Norquist had to dig deep tonight to find a lineup that all clicked while on the floor together, and was able to find exactly that in the second set, where the Knights attacked at a blistering .517 kill%, and 18 total kills in the set to only 3 errors.
Senior setter
Matalasi Laban had to shift up to play more backrow than she normally does, and saw that change come to fruition with 9 digs in tonight's contest, along with her usual setting duties that accounted for 35 assists and a double-double. Senior setter
Shania Rose also saw some more playing time tonight amongst a new substitution order, resulting in a team-high 13 digs for her this evening. Sophomore outside hitter
Tevlin Britten nearly had another double-double of her own, finishing with 13 kills and 8 digs.
For the Eagles, senior middle blocker Abi Broussard threw down a game-high 18 kills offensively, while dominating at the net with 6 blocks. Senior setter Anna Saelens emerged from tonight's bout with a rock-solid 47 assists and 13 digs to secure the only Eagles' double-double.
The Knights head on the road for 5-straight away games, starting next Friday & Saturday when they travel south to battle against conference hosts Bushnell University and Corban University at 7pm PST both nights, respectively.
