Three Knights Score in Double-Digits to Down Battlin’ Bears

Billings, Mont. | Edging out a 10-point victory tonight was the Warner Pacific University Men's Basketball team (2-1), who took down the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears (1-3) on their home court to get their second win of the year, and putting them over the .500 win percentage mark with the 72-62 victory.

The Knights came out swinging right from the opening tip, scoring 10 straight points to start the game and immediately putting the Battlin' Bears on the defensive. Senior forward Miles Brown scored 5 of the first 10 points for Warner Pacific, and was one of the three Knights to score in double-digits tonight with 11 points for the game.

A 38-23 WPU lead moving into the 2nd half quickly turned into a 49-29 lead with just over 15 minutes remaining in tonight's contest. However, Rocky Mountain would prove to make this game interesting over the next 10 minutes of play, pulling to within 8 points with under 5 minutes to go. The Knights would bend, but refuse to break under the road-team pressure, managing to keep that lead to come no closer than an 8-point deficit for the Battlin' Bears.

Knights' sophomore guard Tyrese Yussuf-Willis tied the game-high in scoring tonight with 17 points, dishing out 4 assists and hauling in 4 rebounds in the process. Rounding out the double-digit tallies in scoring for Warner Pacific was senior guard Isaac Etter, who dropped 13 points in 26 minutes played.

Rocky Mountain guard Tayshawun Bradford broke even with Yussuf-Willis with 17 points of his own, while also coming down with 6 boards. Forward Maxim Stephens wrangled a game-high 16 rebounds for the Bears, but was inefficient enough on the offensive end thanks to the Knights' stalwart defense to keep Warner Pacific's lead well out of reach.

The Knights are back in action tomorrow night in Helena, Mont. to face off against the Carroll College Saints at 7pm MT (6pm PST) before heading back to PDX for a week off the non-conference slate to prepare for their next preseason matchup.
