WPU Men’s Soccer Head Coach Troy Ready Claims Back to Back CCC Coach of the Year Honor

PORTLAND | The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) announced on Monday, November 8th, the 2021 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams, as well as the WVT Laboratory Players/Coach of the Year, where Warner Pacific University Men's Soccer Head Coach Troy Ready was recognized as the CCC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Leading the Knights to a 15-2-1 record, the club's best in over a decade, Ready has put together an exceptional roster and coaching staff that has only increased in skill and results over the last four years of his coaching tenure at Warner Pacific. His 45-30-5 overall record at Warner Pacific is just the tip of the iceberg, as Ready's genuine love of the game, his players, and his coaching staff shines through no matter what adversity he may face.

Ready's Knights took the conference by storm this fall, clinching the Regular Season Conference Championship and No. 1 Seed in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament, and securing their place as Automatic Qualifier (AQ) into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament to be played later this month. This 2021 Knights squad led the conference in goals scored (48), which puts them at 35th nationally across NAIA schools.

Week after week this season, Ready eyed his team vaulting into the Top 25 of the NAIA Coaches' Poll, but was left looking for more, with a competitive field across the nation keeping the Knights just out of reach. Moving into the first week of the postseason, Warner Pacific has received the largest amount of Top 25 weekly votes (34) since their last nationally ranked week in 2009.

When asked to share a few thoughts on his receiving of this award, Ready said, "I first want to acknowledge my incredible staff; Cameron Marvin, Octavio Hermosillo, Fernando Ibanez, Glenn Rogers, and Luke Pilarski. The collective leadership is what makes our culture so effective. Each of them have found ways to connect with our players on and off the field, and shown tireless commitment to bettering the program."

"I'm also thankful for our Athletic Director Mike Wilson, our Sports Information Director Clayton Messerle, and all the faculty and staff at Warner Pacific University for their crucial parts of the program. I'm honored, among so many amazing coaches in our conference, to receive this award," Ready concluded.

Coach Ready leads his Conference Champion Warner Pacific University Knights into battle November 9th, to take on the Northwest University Eagles in the first round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament, where they will defend their No. 1 overall seed at 11:00 a.m. PST.
