Knights Complete Comeback to Start CCC Play 1-0

PORTLAND | Warner Pacific Women's Basketball opened up Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a 75-72 victory over Corban University on Friday night. The Knights trailed by eight at half and as many as 11 in the first half before outscoring the Warriors 21-10 in the third quarter to take the lead.

The team looked different coming out of the break, like they flipped a switch. "At halftime we talked about all the good things we were doing and I just encouraged them to continue those things" said head coach Matt Gregg. "They came out and responded. Knocked down shots, hustled for loose balls and just stayed aggressive" he added. The Knights start the CCC season 1-0.

The Rundown
Corban jumped out to a quick 11-point lead in the first quarter, catching the Knights defense on their heels and knocking down shots.
In a game where neither team shot over 40%, the buckets came when they mattered. The Knights chased a Warrior lead for the entirety of the first half, before a halftime adjustment that took the game by storm.

Warner Pacific managed to outscore Corban 29-10 in the third quarter, with the help of the hot hands of Gabriella Bruno, Khloe Snair and Courtney Jackson, who each ended the knight in double figures. Jackson and Snair hit a combined eight 3-pointers for Warner Pac.

Corban wouldn't go down easy, though. The Warriors responded and fought tooth and nail in the final quarter of play, tying the game up four times in the final eight minutes. A team that rarely struggles from the line, Warner Pacific hit six key free throws with under a minute remaining, keeping the lead just out of reach for the Warriors.

Courtney Jackson led all scorers with 20, shooting 4-5 from behind the arc and 2-2 from the stripe. Gabriella Bruno added 19 points of her own while grabbing eight boards and sinking 10 free throws. Khloe Snair contributed 16 points while going 4-6 from the arc.

Corban's Holly Golenor scored 19 points with eight rebounds while Shaelie Burgess got herself a double-double with 18 and 12.
