Austin Wallace-Lister finished his collegiate wrestling career with a sixth place finish and an All-American honor in the 141 pound weight class on Saturday night at the NAIA National Wrestling Championships at Hartman Arena. He is the only men's wrestler in program history to earn All-American honors in two separate weight classes.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the senior out of Portland hadn't competed in a single match since last year's Championships where he was named the 2020 NAIA National Runner-Up for the 133 pound weight class. This year Wallace-Lister moved weight classes to bout against the best 141 pounders in the NAIA, some of which had been wrestling all season long. Wallace-Lister, without a single match under his belt since March 6, 2020, defeated two and finished in the top six in the nation. Not a bad way to go out.
Set to graduate with a degree in Business Management in May, Wallace-Lister looks to get into coaching wrestling.Â
