Bahena, Knights Take Down NCAA Pacific University in Overtime

Forest Grove, Ore. | On the eve of conference play opening week, the Warner Pacific University Men's Soccer team (3-1) finished the preseason with an overtime victory against NCAA DIII Pacific University (3-2), with a final score of 2-1.

The Boxers struck first early in today's match, with the first goal of the day coming off the foot of Boxers midfielder Lucas Miller. After a scramble in front of the Knights' goal, Boxers midfielder Noah Edwards found Miller on the left side of the penalty box, where he finished with his left into the bottom right corner of the goal.

One minute into the second half, Warner Pacific junior midfielder Miguel Andalon-Ordaz lined up for a penalty kick opportunity after Boxers defender Alex Pasmann was called for a penalty in the box. Andalon-Ordaz' stutter step attempt met the back left corner of the goal when Boxers goalkeeper Zach Aderinto dove to his own left instead.

A relatively quiet second half came to an end after multiple corner kick opportunities for the Knights, all of which they could not convert on. The Knights had 13 corner kicks opportunities in today's match, while Pacific did not manage a single attempt.

Senior forward Arturo Bahena brought this game to an end less than two minutes into the overtime period, when he snuck a strike from 18 yards out past the diving hands of Aderinto, and just caught the left goalpost to bounce into the net.

Bahena and Andalon-Ordaz both pick up their second goals of the season, while Knights goalkeeper Luis Hernandez picks up his first win in goal.
Now that the preseason has officially wrapped up, the Knights look to prepare for the start of conference play that begins this Friday, September 17th, when they host Eastern Oregon University (0-3) at 4:30pm PST.
