PORTLAND | After battling early in each set, the Warner Pacific University Women's Volleyball team (0-9, 0-6) dropped tonight's match against The College of Idaho Yotes (5-9, 2-4) in three sets, 10-25, 14-25, 10-25.
Unnecessary errors and some mishandling of the ball led to unfortunate results for the Knights, as they managed to hang tight with the Yotes at the beginning of each set before ultimately letting too many mistakes add up, leading to the College of Idaho's victory.
Senior outside hitter
Grace Buchanan once again led the Knights in kills tonight with 11, while newly signed freshman middle blocker
Makayla Jenkins had her first two collegiate kills and a block assist with Buchanan. Defensively for the Knights, sophomore setter
Jaliza Lazaro and freshman libero
Sabah Mohammady each had 6 digs.
For the Yotes, outside hitters Leyah de Souza and Emily Vandenberg had 9 and 8 kills, respectively, while Vandenberg led her team in the backcourt with 11 digs. Freshman setter Sydnee Steel had 22 assists for the Yotes, which was enough to be the game-high leader in tonight's match.
The Knights are back in action tomorrow evening at 5pm PST against the #14 Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers at C.C. Perry Gym to close out their 5-game home-stand.
