Knights Celebrate Senior Day With 3-1 Win

PORTLAND, Ore.| The Knights celebrated Senior Day with a 3-1 victory over Rocky Mountain College on Saturday.

For the second game in a row, Andrew Martinez opened the game by scoring a goal in under a minute.

The lead for the Knights wouldn't last through the first half, however, as Rocky Mountain tied up the game on a penalty kick goal in the 20th minute. The penalty kick followed a sequence that saw Knights goalkeeper Alexis Calderilla get issued a yellow card.

Yellow card bookings were a theme for the game and Calderilla was far from the only player to be booked. A total of nine yellow cards were issued throughout the game, five for the Knights, and four for the Bears.

The equalizing penalty kick from Rocky Mountain would hold for the rest of the half, and the game remained tied at 1-1 going into the break.

A Hunter Leach header in the 56th minute gave the Knights a 2-1 lead. The goal was the 12th of the year for Leach and came off of an assist from Erik Mattice.

Andrew Martinez tacked on an insurance goal in the 70th minute to bring the game to its final score of 3-1.

The Knights defense kept Rocky Mountain in check all game, only allowing two shots on goal.

The win brings the Knights to 16-0 on the season. Men's soccer is back in action Oct. 28 when they travel to Klamath Falls for a big matchup against Oregon Tech.
