KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.| The Knights clinched their second straight conference championship with a draw against Oregon Tech on Friday.
The #19 Knights came into the weekend looking to round out an unblemished season. They faced a formidable opponent in the form of a 10-1-3 Oregon Tech team who was coming off the heels of a draw against #23 Corban.
Oregon Tech struck first to open the game with a goal from Andrew Pasang in the 15
th minute. The Knights pushed offensively but weren't able to tie up the game for the remainder of the half. Despite the 1-0 lead for Oregon Tech, Warner Pacific outshot them in the first half, with the Knights attempting five compared to three for the Owls.
The equalizer for the Knights came 44 seconds into the second half when Andrew Martinez found the back of the net off of an assist from
Hunter Leach. The goal is the 27
th of the year for Martinez, who leads the nation in goals scored.
The Knights kept the Owls at bay for the remainder of the game. Oregon Tech had a few close calls late in the game, but ultimately were held scoreless in the second half, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Despite not coming away with the win for the first time this year, the Knights were still celebrating when the clock hit zeros.
The draw against the Owls clinched the second straight CCC regular season championship for the Knights and gave them an automatic bid for the NAIA national tournament for the second year in a row.
The draw puts the Knights at 16-0-1 on the season. Men's soccer will look to round out their undefeated season on Saturday when they take on Southern Oregon University. Â
