ASHLAND, Ore.| The Knights finished out an undefeated 2022 regular season with a draw against Southern Oregon on Saturday.
The Raiders got on the board first in the game when Evan Norconk scored in the 22
nd minute.
The lead didn't last long for Southern Oregon as 10 minutes later, Andrew Martinez scored his 28
th goal of the year to tie things up for the Knights.
In the 36
th minute, Southern was forced to play a man down thanks to Kevin Nevinger having received his second yellow of the game. Despite the Raiders being short-handed on the field, the score remained 1-1 for nearly the rest of the game.
The personnel mismatch was eventually evened up in the 60
th minute when
Hunter Leach was given a red card for making contact with Southern Oregon's goalkeeper.
Two goals were scored in the final four minutes of play to bring the came to its conclusion.
In the 86
th minute the Knights took the lead thanks to a chip shot from
Juan Gudino off of an assist from Andrew Martinez. The lead didn't hold for long however, as Southern Oregon tied up the game on a penalty kick after one of their players got tripped up in the box. The penalty kick goal for the Raiders came in with just over two minutes left to go and brought the game to its final score of 2-2.
The draw puts Warner's record for the 2022 regular season at 16-0-2. While the Knights didn't get the win they were hoping for, they still end the season undefeated for the first time in program history.
With the #1 seed secured, men's soccer takes on Evergreen State College on Nov. 7 for the first round of conference playoffs in Springfield, Ore. Â
