Knights Fall in Three Sets to Walla Walla

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.| The Knights fell in 3 sets to Walla Walla in their tightly-contested matchup on Saturday 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.

The match was the closest of the year for Warner, who beat Walla Walla in four sets in their last meeting earlier this year.

The Knights and Wolves traded scoring runs in the first set. Walla Walla jumped out to an 8-1 lead to open the set before the Knights went on an 8-1 run of their own to tie up the set at 9-9, forcing the Wolves to take a timeout. Following the timeout, Walla Walla scored three before the Knights and Wolves each scored five consecutive points respectively.

Warner held a 23-19 lead in the first set but Walla Walla scored six unanswered to take the first set 25-23.

Walla Walla held the lead for the majority of the second set. Warner had a late run to cut into a 22-13 deficit to bring the set to 22-19. However, the Wolves were able to close out the set 25-20.

The final set had the most back and forth action of the night. With the score tied at 12-10 in favor of Walla Walla, neither team would score more than two consecutive points for the rest of the set. Each team had an answer for the other and it continued all the way until the Wolves ultimately won the set 25-23, winning the match 3-0.

Kyla Reiling and Elizabeth Reid led the Knights with 8 kills each. Rose Vazquez also had a strong showing, leading the team with 14 digs. JuJu Williams led Warner with 20 assists on the night.

The loss puts the Knights at 1-19 on the season. Volleyball is back in action Nov. 4 at home to open the final weekend of the season.
