PORTLAND, Ore.| In their first conference game of the year, the Knights fell to Multnomah by a score of 83-78.
The Knights fought hard during the game but couldn't come away with their first win of the season on Tuesday.
A three-pointer from
Amalya Sales on Warner's first possession of the game gave the Knights an early lead over the Lions. The Knights would hold on to that lead until the last minute of the second quarter.
The game went back and forth in the second half. Momentum shifted away from the Knights when scoring opportunities at the rim that were falling for Warner early on began being rebounded by the Lions as Multnomah was able to extend their lead in the latter stages of the game.
The Knights did what they could to keep the Lions close and McKeeley Tonkin was a big part of those efforts, with 13 of her 19 points coming in the second half. Tonkin also hit a huge three with 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter to make it a one-possession game.
The Knights struggled at the free throw line all throughout the game, shooting just 50% from the stripe. Those struggles hurt them in the closing moments of the game as the Knights weren't able to complete the comeback.
