PORTLAND, Ore.| The Knights came up just short in their non-conference matchup against Lewis & Clark College on Monday, falling by a score of 61-59.
Warner Pacific (0-7, 0-3 CCC) played well early on, leading for virtually the entire first half against the Pioneers (1-7, 1-2). The biggest lead of the game for the Knights came in the first quarter when they held a 9 point advantage.
Things took a turn for the Knights in the third quarter when the Pioneers outscored Warner 15-1. The quarter erased a Warner lead and instead gave the Pioneers a 9 point lead going into the final quarter.
The Pioneers extended their lead to as much as 12 during the final quarter. The Knights fought to stage a comeback but fell just short as the Pioneers were able to keep it a two possession game until the final moments. With three seconds left on the clock the Knights hit a three pointer to bring the deficit down to two. However, with time running out, the Knights couldn't get another possession to try to tie up the game and the Pioneers came out on top 61-59.
