PORTLAND, Ore.| The Knights extended their winning streak to five games with a dominant 87-74 win over Linfield.
Warner Pacific (6-2, 3-0) returned home after back-to-back road wins to host the Linfield Wildcats (3-4, 1-1) on Thursday.
After a back and forth start to the game, the Knights raced out to 15 point lead at halftime. Isaac Etter and Thomas Miles led the offensive attack for the Knights, scoring 12 and 11 points respectively in the opening half.
The second half saw more of the same dominance from Warner, as Colton Gorski scored five straight points to push the lead to a game high of 21. Gorski gave the Knights a big boost off the bench as he chipped in with 13 points, a season high for him so far. In addition to the scoring, Gorski recorded 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Reigning CCC Player of the Week Thomas Miles had another solid performance, finishing the game with 15 points. His presence was also felt on defense all night long as the conference leader in steals added three more to his season total.
The win for the Knights snapped a four game losing streak against Linfield; something the players were aware of pregame. When asked about what attributed to the success tonight, Isaac Etter said the team had "prepared all week for them (Linfield) and scouted really hard." He went on to add the team needed to "come out with a lot of energy and protect their home court."
That they did, the game ended with a final score of 87-74 in favor of the Knights. The win is their fifth straight and pushes Warner to 6-2 on the season and a perfect 2-0 at home.
Men's basketball is on the road next as they face Eastern Oregon University on Dec. 16th at 7:30 p.m.
