Pair of Hat Tricks From Leach and Martinez Secures Lopsided Knights Victory

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.| It was a goal-scoring bananza on Sunday when the Knights traveled to take on Walla Walla University. The Knights were helped by hat tricks from both Hunter Leach and Andrew Martinez on their way to an 8-0 victory.

The Knights controlled the game from start to finish. Warner started the game with a bang when Andrew Martinez scored his first of the game in the fifth minute. The Knights wasted little time following up, as just two minutes later, Juan Gudino scored his first goal of the season off of an assist from Matias Castano to make it 2-0.

With the early lead in hand, Knights senior Hunter Leach picked up a pair of quick goals to begin his hat trick.

In the 18th minute, Hunter Leach scored his first of the night before following up on it by scoring again only three minutes later on a header off of the assist from Erik Mattice.

The Knights continued their assault on the back of the net when in the 29th minute, Andrew Martinez scored his second goal of the night, this time off of an assist from Juan Gudino. The goal was his 16th on the year, breaking the Warner Pacific men's soccer record for most goals in a single season.

The scoring in the first half was not over as in the 42nd minute Antonio Cipriano-Ojendiz scored his first of the year to give the Knights a 6-0 lead.

The second half saw Leach and Martinez round out their hat tricks. Martinez scored his third of the night in the fifth minute of the second half off of an assist from Hunter Leach. Leach himself completed his hat trick shortly after when he scored off of an assist from Matias Castano in the 54th minute. The goal was Leach's seventh of the season and the assist was Castano's seventh of the year.

The offensive barrage from the Knights made it difficult for Walla Walla to get anything going for themselves offensively. The Wolves were held to only two shots on goal in the game, compared to Warner's 18.

The dominant team showing brings the Knights to 9-0 on the season. Men's soccer is back in action on Sept. 30 at home when they take on Bushnell, and Oct. 1 in a highly anticipated matchup against Corban University.
