KIRKLAND, Wash.| The Knights got their first win of the season in a thriller against Northwest on Friday.
Warner Pacific (1-14, 1-8) hit the road on Friday to take on Northwest University (3-12, 1-9) in search of their first win of the season.
The Knights got their first lead of the game late in the first quarter and remained in front until the final horn despite a late scare.
A strong offensive performance in the second quarter gave Warner Pacific a five point lead going into halftime. The Knights scored 20 points and shot 64% as a team in the second quarter. The Knights kept up the strong shooting in the third quarter and increased their lead to double digits over the Eagles going into the final frame.
Momentum swung Northwest's way in the fourth quarter to add some late game drama. The Knights hot shooting suddenly went cold and the Eagles were able to close the gap on Warner's lead.
The game went down to the wire as Northwest was sent to the free throw line trailing by two points with one second left on the clock. With an opportunity to tie up the game, Northwest missed both of their free throws and the Knights were able to hold on for the win.
The Knights were led by
Emily Brown, who recorded her second straight double double by putting up 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
Amalya Sales also gave the Knights a lift, scoring 7 points and racking up 8 rebounds.
The win puts the Knights at 1-14 on the season. Women's basketball will look to build on the momentum on Jan. 14 when they travel to take on Evergreen.
