PORTLAND, Ore.| Despite strong efforts, Bushnell was able to pull away and defeat Warner Pacific in their matchup on Friday night.
The Knights (1-17) hosted Bushnell University (11-6) on Friday afternoon with Warner wearing their alternate black uniforms on a special occasion "blackout" night.
Sophomore G Amalya Sales and Junior F Emily Brown gave the Knights a strong start. The pair accounted for over half of Warner's points in the first quarter. The early play kept the Knights competitive and Warner found themselves down just 2 points after the first quarter of play.
The second quarter saw the Knights give up some costly turnovers, and they entered the half down 16 with the score being 43-27.
Early in the second half Sales had to be helped off the court due to an apparent injury. However, Sales persevered and returned shortly after to help the Knights keep the third quarter close. She finished with 12 points.
Unfortunately, by the fourth quarter, despite good efforts from the Knights, the deficit was too much to overcome, and the game finished with Bushnell winning by a final score of 72-50.
The duo of Amalya Sales and Emily Brown led the way for the Knights offensively. In addition to her 12 points, Sales also recorded 7 assists. Brown finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
The loss drops the Knights to 1-17 on the season. Warner Pacific Women's Basketball is in action next on Saturday Jan. 22 at 3 P.M. when they host Corban University (9-9) in another CCC matchup.
