Portland, Ore. | The Knights broke out of their losing streak in a huge way today beating Walla Walla in three straight sets at CC Perry Gymnasium this afternoon in front of a great crowd.
The Knights up and down the lineup saw a lot of great things statistically. Autumn Gaboury Parker had 13 kills to lead the team followed by Maryann Tulele who had 12 and Elizabeth Reid with 8. Alyssa Assuncion was on fire today serving the ball racking up 4 aces. Kyla Reiling was an absolute monster assisting her teammates with 39 of them as well as 20 digs.
Each set was razor edge out of your seat action with each being very close. The Knights won each set by scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 27-25. The final set was insane. The Knights were down 24-20 and came storming back scoring the next 4 points to knot the score up at 24 apiece. Walla Walla then took a timeout and then after 1:15 of listening to Europe's Final Countdown, the craziness ensued. Walla Walla scored right out of the timeout putting the Knights on the brink of going to the 4th set. The Knights then proceeded to have some amazingly long volleys and refused to play another set, scoring the last 3 points to win 27-25 in a thriller of a ballgame.
"I'm really proud of how the girls played today," Interim Head Coach Chon Clayton said. "They took what they've learned and applied it to this game. Go Knights!"
