Portland, Ore. | The Knights steal a huge win at Multnomah University by a final result of 2-1 under the lights at Williford Field.
The Leach brothers scored both goals tonight against Multnomah.
Hunter Leach's goal came in the 30
th minute assisted by
Uriel Ruelas-Gonzalez. The second goal of the game was the game winner by
Brendon Leach with a penalty kick in the 87
th minute.
"I knew I was going to put it in,"
Brendon Leach said. "I practice that penalty a lot and I saw the keeper going right so I went left."
It was an amazing scene as time expired as the Knights celebrated in the middle of the field and then ran to the far corner of the pitch to acknowledge the solid group of Knight fans that had come out to watch the game.
"We knew coming into the match that Multnomah was far better than their record shows," Head Coach,
Troy Ready said. "The quality of their team and program has grown every year and that coupled with the cross-town rivalry made for an extremely competitive game. We weren't at our best today but found a way to get the much-needed result. Much credit to our players for their resilience and belief in seeing the match through."
The game was a physical one with more than its fair share of cards handed out. Multnomah themselves had 6 yellow cards and 3 red cards handed out. The Knights had 3 yellow cards.
The Knights had 15 total shots including 8 on goal. Multnomah had 10 total shots and 6 on goal. Knights goalkeeper,
Josepher Juarez-Cruz had five saves on the day including a huge one in the last couple minutes that saved the lead for the Knights.
