Portland, Ore. | The Knights Men's Basketball squad started their year off with a bang winning the first game of the year 72-67 against Westcliff University.
The Knights came out of the gates with a lot of energy putting up a lot of shots in the first half. The Knights in the first half were 13-36 good enough for 36.1% including 7-18 from three-point land. Westcliff in the first half shot 10-37 for 27% including 3-14 from beyond the arc.
The Knights improved their shooting in the second half shooting 12-30 for 40% from the field including 3-8 from three. Westcliff continued to struggle from the field shooting 9-35 good enough for 25.7%.
Warner Pacific was led in scoring tonight by
Matt Solomon who put 21 points on the board going 8-13 from the field including 3-6 from three and 2-2 from the stripe. The Knights were pretty spread out scoring wise having all, but two players score a bucket or more. The Knights bench was outstanding tonight putting up 39 of the teams 72 points. The Knights had the largest lead of the game going up 12 in the 4:19 mark of the second half.

The Knights will get a quick rest before taking on the University of Providence tomorrow at 5pm at CC Perry Gymnasium in the final game of the Portland Classic.
