Portland, Ore. | The Knights had a rare afternoon game today in only their second counting game of the season against Lewis & Clark College and unfortunately lost the game 68-60 in overtime.
The Knights struck blood first on a layup by
Teirra Hicks and then the game was streaky from there on out with runs from both sides ultimately getting knotted up at 54 apiece after regulation. Unfortunately in overtime, the Knights went cold from the field going 1-10 in the 5-minute period while the Pioneers seized the momentum going 4-5 in the period to go along with 5 made free-throws.
"Lewis and Clark did a great job of making us play their game," Head Coach Jimmy Smith said. "We will look to learn from this game and get back to work."
The Knights were led today in scoring by
Teirra Hicks who had 21 points on the game and was the only Knight in double figures.
Larsa Guzman and
Serena Sanchez followed Hicks with 9 and 7 respectively. The Pioneers were led by Karli Mukai who obtained 16 points followed by Jamison Richards with 14.
The Knights put up 70 shots on the day and made 22 of them good enough for 31.4%. The Pioneers shot 24-60 for 40%. The turnover battle was pretty even with the Pioneers having 13 and the Knights having 11. The Knights had problems rebounding defensively giving up 14 offensive rebounds to Lewis & Clark.
