Knights Drop First Conference Game to Multnomah

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 21st, 2023

Portland, Ore. | The Knights unfortunately lost a close nail biter tonight against crosstown rival Multnomah University by a final score of 78-75.

The Knights started the game off not playing well in the first half shooting 12-37 including 5-18 from three-point land and only got to the free-throw stripe once when Sean Johnson went 1-2 from the line. Multnomah on the other hand had a hot first half shooting 18-29 including 6-11 from three good enough for a 62.1% first half from the field and going into the breakup 46-30.

The Knights in the second half came out looking for blood after a disappointing first half and hit pay dirt in every category shooting 54.5% from the field and storming all the way back to grab their first lead of the contest 68-67 after a three pointer by Matt Solomon who also got fouled on the shot and made the free-throw to put the Knights up by 2. Unfortunately, the Knights weren't able to hold on to the lead. The final dagger was a dunk by the Lions, Javier Turner. From there, the Knights proceeded to turn the ball over with 8 seconds and then fouled the Lions who proceeded to sink both the free-throws. The Knights, Sean Johnson, had a solid look at three to try to tie the game up as the clock hit all zeros but it wasn't to be and the Knights lost 78-75. The Knights fall to 2-2 overall and lose their first conference game in the process.

The Knights were led by Matt Solomon who had a great shooting night going 9-19 from the field including 5-9 from three and a couple free throws going for 25 points. Sean Johnson also had a great game off the bench scoring 17 in 25 minutes of play going 6-10 from the field including 4-7 from three. The Knights nearly came roaring back to win the shooting percentage battle shooting 42.9% from the field to the Lions 43.5%.
