Knights Lose Another Close One

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 26th, 2023

Portland, Ore. | The Knights played their second of two games in the Thanksgiving Classic against the host school Lewis & Clark College this afternoon and once again lost a close one 78-77 at Pamplin Sports Center.

The Knights played very well offensively shooting 46.7% on the game but had a couple scoring droughts that weren't matched by the Pioneers which made the Knights have to make a few small comebacks that they weren't able to sustain. Matt Solomon once again led the Knights in scoring with 25 on 6-16 shooting including 2-4 from three and 7-7 from the stripe. Caleb Tyree-Morgan was the only other Knight in double figures with 11 on 4-7 shooting including 3-6 from three.

Lewis & Clark had 5 players in double figures with Mikey Medlock Jr leading the way with 19. The Pioneers as a team shot 46.8% from the field including 10-26 from the three-point line.

The Knights were down by 10 late in the game when they started to claw back into it once again and worked the score down to 4 at 72-68  with 2:56 left and from there both teams traded baskets. Unfortunately for the Knights they were past the point of being able to trade baskets with the Pioneers. The Knights did end up getting a couple stops down 74-70 and had two great looks at three but weren't able to cash in keeping the distance at 4. Matt Solomon did make a three at the buzzer but the Knights were still down by 4 and there wasn't anyone around to foul Solomon so the Knights went down 78-77.

The Knights have now found themselves in the middle of a 4 game skid dropping them to 2-4 overall. The first of the four loses was a bit of a larger deficit but the last 3 games have been heart breakers losing 75-78, 71-68, and 78-71.

Next Up
The Knights will enjoy a week of education and practice and hopefully are able to break the losing streak when they take on Bushnell University this Friday at 7:30pm at CC Perry Gymnasium on the campus of Warner Pacific University.
