Warner Pacific Women's Basketball hosted the Corban Warriors on Saturday afternoon in a game where the Knights left nothing in doubt as they cruised to a 58-37 victory thanks to a huge second half.
The Knights came out hot to start the game, rallying for an 11-0 start thanks to Teirra Hicks' 8 points. She finished the game with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Corban found their way back and the quarter ended all even at 13-13. The second quarter was similar, but Warner Pacific headed into the break up 2 points thanks to some good defense throughout.
In the second half, Warner executed and dominated. They outscored Corban by 19 points and were locked in on the defensive end. McKeely Tonkin lead all scorers tonight with 16 points to go along with 8 rebounds and was a presence on defense throughout.
3-0 is a good way to start conference play, when head coach Jimmy Smith was asked about it he had this to say:
"It feels great.. the girls are doing a great job. They're buying into what we want. It's only one game though and were on to the next one. We're going to enjoy it for the day, but George Fox on Tuesday!"
Exciting times for the Warner Pacific Women's Basketball team. They are in action next against George Fox in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, December 5th. Tip off will be at 6pm as the team looks to continue this hot run.
