PORTLAND, Ore.| Warner Pacific women's basketball held off a late-game comeback effort to earn a 66-64 win over Evergreen on Friday night.
The Knights (2-22, 2-15) were on a mission to secure their second win of a hard season. Facing off against The Evergreen State College, (7-14, 4-14) the Knights were determined to come out on top, and they were ready to give it their all on the court.

From the start of the game, it was clear that the Knights were on a mission. They dominated the first three quarters, outscoring The Evergreen State College 57-38. The team was playing with confidence as they shot 43% throughout the first three quarters.

Things took a turn as the fourth quarter approached when Evergreen mounted a comeback. The Geoducks closed the gap by taking advantage of Warner Pacific turnovers and to turn a 20 point deficit into a 1 point game.

Free throws from
Serena Sanchez and
McKeeley Tonkin gave the Knights a two point lead in the final seconds. In the final play of the game the Geoducks grabbed a rebound off of a free throw with under five seconds left in play. Evergreen tried to hurry and get a shot up, but the Knights defense knocked the ball loose momentarily and prevented Evergreen from attempting a game-tying shot. The horn sounded and the Knights came away with their second win of the season.

Emily Brown and
Amalya Sales played a big part in the Knights' win. Brown scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while Sales scored 11 points and snagged 4 rebounds.

The win puts the Knights at 2-22 on the season. Women's basketball will look to continue their momentum into their final home game of the season on Feb. 11 when they host Northwest University at 3pm.
