PORTLAND, Ore.| Warner Pacific women's basketball was defeated by #16 ranked Eastern Oregon on Saturday by a score of 87-53.
Warner Pacific (1-22, 1-17) hosted one of the top teams in the country in the form of Eastern Oregon (21-2, 16-1) in what ended up being too tough of a matchup for the Knights.
Despite starting the game off well by staying close with the Mounties in the opening few minutes, the Knights were down 19-10 at the end of the first quarter. The bright spot for the Knights was that they were able to capitalize on Eastern Oregon's mistakes as six of Warner's 10 points came off of turnovers they forced.
The Mounties continued their momentum in the second quarter. Heading into halftime the Knights found themselves down 21 points against an Eastern team that lived up to their reputation as one of the toughest teams in the conference.
The second half saw the Mounties continue to extend their lead. Warner's best efforts fell short as they weren't able to gather much momentum and ultimately lost by a score of 87-53.
The loss puts the Knights at 1-21 on the season. Warner Pacific women's basketball is back in action on Friday, Feb. 10 when they host The Geoducks of the Evergreen State College.
