FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 21st, 2024

Portland, Ore.| The Knights played a solid game but fell short of victory losing to the Wolves of Walla Walla by a final score of 58-53 in front of a solid crowd at Bart Valentine Court at CC Perry Gymnasium.

The Knights in the first quarter finished with 17 points on 6 field goals including a three from McKeeley Tonkin. Larsa Guzman had a huge quarter scoring 8 points on 2-4 shooting and making all four of her free-throws.

In the second quarter, the Knights struggled from the field only earning 10 points on 5-14 shooting. Warner Pacific entered the break only down 30-27 with the chance of winning still very much alive.

The third quarter saw the Knights score 17 more points behind 12 points from Emily Brown who finished the game with a double-double. The Wolves had their worst output of any quarter today in the third with 7 points.

In the final quarter, the Knights ended up only scoring 9 points and the Wolves put 21 points on the board which ultimately made the difference in the 5 point difference result.

"Tonight we had some really good moments throughout the game where the ball was finding the right hands and the bottom of the net," Head Coach Jimmy Smith said. "We will look to Tuesday as a solid day of practice to begin our week as we head for round 2 of conference play."

Emily Brown had a double-double with 20 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal. She filled up the stat sheet and gave the Knights an opportunity to win the game. The only other Knight that was in double figures tonight was Larsa Guzman who had 10 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
