Knights Nearly Win in Ashland

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 6, 2024

Ashland, Ore.| The Knights fell tonight this time at the hands of the Raiders of Southern Oregon University by a final score of 82-78 on a snow day.

This was a very closely contested game that saw two teams giving it there all. The largest lead of the game for the Knights was 7 and the largest lead for the Raiders was 9. At the end of the first half, the Knights were down 41-38. Collin Oestereich had a great first half with 12 points to match game high honors with two Raiders in the half.

The second half saw another half of extremely contested ball which saw the Raiders win the half by one point and therefore winning the game by 4. Unfortunately, the Knights at the end of the game just couldn't really ever get over the hump. They did take a 69-68 lead with 5:37 left in the game on a Sean Johnson three but it was very short lived as the Raiders scored a bucket on the very next possession. The Knights were then in a place where they haven't had much experience at doing this year which is to try and take a lead and close out the game. They weren't able to accomplish that and now have seen their losing streak balloon to 12.

The Knights were led in scoring by Caleb-Tyree Morgan who dropped 15 points, had 6 boards, 3 assists, and had a blocked shot. Matt Solomon had 13 points and Mark Wishom had 12 off the bench. Maxwell Moses and Cade Baker rounded out the Knights in double figures with 10 apiece. Sean Johnson was one point away from a double-double with 9 points and 10 boards.
