Tre'von Cason Has 34 In Win Against Linfield

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – December 14th, 2024

McMinnville, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Men's Basketball squad broke their three game losing streak beating Linfield University 76-67 behind 34 points from Tre'von Cason.

The Knights in the first half shot the ball at a 34.3% clip earning 35 points behind the great shooting of Tre'von Cason who had 21 first half points. Cason not only had 21 points but he also had an offensive board to go along with his three rebounds. The Knights struggled from distance going 1-12 from deep which might be a positive considering they got to half with a one point lead despite that struggle. The Knights got to the line a bunch in the first period with 11 attempts making ten of them good enough for 90.9%.

The Wildcats despite shooting 48.4% from the field in the first half only end up down by one at the half due to a last second layup. Linfield didn't get to the charity stripe in the first half which played a huge part in the Knights being able to keep the lead. The Knights had 22 points in the paint in the first half and had nine offensive rebounds resulting in six second chance points.

The second half for the Knights went very well with the Knights scoring 41 points once again led by Cason who had another 13 points in the half finishing with 34. Cason not only scored the ball well but he filled up the stat sheet as well with five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and a blocked shot. Cason was everything for the Knights tonight. Sean Johnson had 11 and Jurrien Sparks had 10 to round out the Knights who had double figures. The Knights did give up the lead in the second half early but then regained control and never looked back. The Knights as a team shot 40% from the field and went 25-29 from the charity stripe which helped give the Knights firm control of the contest. The Knights on the boards were special tonight raking in 11 offensive boards resulting in 12 second chance points. Points in the paint was an astonishing stat as well with the Knights having 40 of them which included 14 fast break points.
