Sandy, Ore.| The Knights played the second and third game of their series against 15
th ranked, Eastern Oregon, today and lost both games.
Game One
The Knights in game one gave up a four spot in the first inning off the pitching of
Briana Munoz. Munoz gave up 6 runs on 5 hits.
Abby Carlson came on in relief and pitched very well going the last five innings giving up 4 runs all earned, striking out seven, and walking one. The Knights didn't get a hit until the third inning when
Jordyn Rosario beat out an infield hit to the Mountaineer's third baseman.
The Knights scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. The inning started with a
Kili Makanani walk which was then followed by a single by
Maddie Gamble to left field advancing Makanani to second.
Nikki O'Reilly then reached first on a throwing error by the Mountaineer's pitcher which allowed Makanani to score from second. The final score was 10-1 in favor of the Mountaineer's
Game Two
The second game was very competitive even though the final score was 8-1 in favor of Eastern Oregon.
Abby Carlson started the game and went the full seven innings giving up eight runs while striking out five and walking three.
After Eastern Oregon scored the first three runs of the game in the first inning, the Knights answered with one of their own in the bottom half of the inning on a Makanani single to right field bringing in Gamble who had walked earlier in the inning. From there, the game turned into a pitcher's duel for a couple innings until the fourth when the Mountaineer's scored three more runs. Eastern Oregon scored their final two runs of the game in the sixth inning.
Eastern Oregon's hitters were excellent today hitting a lot of great pitches by Knight's pitchers.
Abby Carlson threw a lot of great pitches that were hit by Mountaineer's pitchers creating a final score that looked a lot worse than the game actually was.
Next Up
The Knights will enjoy a week of practice and then will go on the road to Caldwell, Idaho to play the College of Idaho next weekend. They'll play on Friday at 1pm and 3pm and then on Saturday at 10am and 12pm.
