Knights Drop Two in Springfield

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 26th, 2024

Springfield, Ore.| The Knights started their final series of the season today against Bushnell University and lost both their games today on a rainy Springfield day.

Game One
The Knights were shut out in the first game today by a final score of 10-0 due to great pitching from the Beacons pitcher who went the full five innings giving up just the two hits. The two hits the Knights got came from the bats of Nikki O'Reilly and Kili Makanani. Both the hits came in the second inning and were the first two batters of the frame. O'Reilly doubled to left and Makanani singled to center.

The Beacons got their 10 runs on nine hits. The Beacons had three players with two hits apiece. Abby Carlson got the ball to start the game and went 2 and 2/3rds innings giving up five runs of which only three were earned. She struck out three, walked four and gave up six hits. Nia Tate finished the game giving up five runs on three hits of which only three were earned.

Game Two
The second game of the day proved to be much better for the Knights both defensively and offensively however, the game still ended with the Beacons on top 4-0. The Knights banged out seven hits but unfortunately the hits weren't timely enough to result in runs. Jordyn Rosario led the way with three hits. Rosario had a couple singles and a triple coming a double and a home run shy of the cycle.

Hannah Stone got the start on the bump playing in her first game since March 30th against the College of Idaho. This was her fourth appearance of the season and she pitched pretty well going the distance and only gave up four runs on eight hits in which just three were earned. She struck out one and walked one.
