FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 6
th, 2024
Happy Valley, Ore.| The Knights finished their series with Carroll College by playing two more games today on a soggy April day out at Hood View Park at Nelson High School.
Game One
The Knights broke out offensively in a huge way in this one winning the game 11-5. The Knights have been waiting for an offensive output like this and finally got it. This is a very solid offense that hasn't quite been able to put it together consistently during games this season but in this game, they tore the cover off the ball blistering 13 hits to go along with their 11 runs.
The Knights had almost everyone that batted get a hit today. Just three Knight batters were without a hit today.
Jordyn Rosario led the way going 3-3 at the plate continuing to have a great weekend.
Maddie Gamble,
Briana Munoz,
Kili Makanani, and
Nikki O'Reilly each had two hits apiece.
Kylie Lester and
Jovita Laloulu each checked in with a hit as well. One of the most impressive things about this game is that the Knights scored their 11 runs without hitting a single home run. They kept moving the runners up via base hits, doubles, and smart base running. Munoz led the way in the RBI category with four bringing her season total up to 15.
Abby Carlson got the start in this one and pitched the full seven innings and gave up five runs all earned on nine hits. Carlson struck out two and walked five as well. A very fine outing for Carlson aided by great defense and run support earned her the win bringing her season record to 1-3.
Game Two
The Knights in the second game didn't fare as well as they did the first game. They lost the game by a final score of 12-1 cutting the game short after five innings due to the eight runs or more lead through five innings rule. The Knights in this game only had three hits.
Jordyn Rosario had one,
Maddie Gamble had one, and
Jovita Laloulu had one. The one run that the Knights got was when
Kili Makanani put the ball in play forcing an error from the Saints first baseman allowing Rosario to scamper home.
Makanani got the ball from head coach, Ashton Porter, to start the game and pitched the first inning allowing five runs all earned.
Abby Carlson came on in relief and pitched 1.2 innings giving up four runs all earned on four hits.
Nia Tate came in to finish the game on the bump and pitched 2.1 innings giving up three runs, struck out two, and walked two.

th with games starting at 2pm and 4pm.
