Knights Beat Yotes On the Road for First Time in Program History

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 18th, 2025

Caldwell, Idaho.| The Knights made history tonight as they took down The College of Idaho with a final score of 49-48. This game marked the Knights first win over the Yotes since February 1st, 2020 and their first win at The College of Idaho in program history. The win can be credited to a great second half comeback for the Knights as they held the Yotes to 9 points in the fourth quarter.

Three players stood out during this game for their offensive and defensive contributions. The first, and Knights leading point scorer for the game was Emily Fortin who had 14 points with seven rebounds and one steal. Second, is Alexa Mee who had 11 total rebounds during the game. Lastly, is Alex Saunders who came off the bench and had 11 points with one steal and a block for the Knights.

"The girls capitalized on opportunities that were presented to them," Jimmy Smith said. "They fought hard, showed excellent resilience, and battled till the end. We battle the odds every night, but this Knights team showed up and recorded the first ever win against COI at their home. I'm super proud of this group and excited to continue pushing forward. Night of Knights tonight!"

This win over the Yotes marks a great team win for the Knights even as they struggled offensively. However, it was their defense that really shined through during the course of the game. The Knights logged one of their highest rebound totals of the season with 42. They also had three blocks, six steals and created 11 Yotes turnovers which were crucial plays that led to victory. Another plus was the Knights ability to finish second chance points as they put up 11.
