Portland, Ore.| In the Knights Women's Basketball's first game during their Hoopin for the Homeless campaign, they lost a nail biter against the Bushnell University Beacons by a final score of 70-68.Â
The first half was hard fought but was plagued by small mistakes that led the Knights to be at a 42-34 deficit at half. The second half started off slow but the Knights found themselves within two on multiple occasions.Â
As a team, the Knights offense looked the strongest it had during the new year as they made 22 shots from the field and seven from beyond the arc. However, they were hurt by turnovers that the Beacons capitalized on scoring 23 off those turnovers. On the defensive end of things the Knights had one of their strongest of the season. The team had 32 rebounds, five steals and created 19 Bushnell turnovers. However, the most impressive team statistic came from assists as the Knights logged their most of the season with 16.
Individually, the Knights had two people that accounted for over half their points. Local Senior, Emily Fortin led the Knights in points with 25 while securing eight defensive rebounds for the Knights. The second was Senior Amalya Sales who had 23 and led the Knights in steals with three.Â
Next Up
The Knights will be at home once again tomorrow when Corban University comes to town. Tip is set for 3pm. The following weekend, the Knights will once again hit the road traveling to Lewiston, Idaho on Friday, January 31st. They are set to play Lewis-Clark State college at 5pm at the P1FCU Activity Center. Following the game against the Warriors, the Knights travel to Walla Walla University at 6:30pm on Saturday, February 1st.Â
