Knights Sweep Weekend With Dominating Win Over Corban

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 25th, 2025

Portland, Ore.| Warner Pacific Men's Basketball completed the weekend sweep of the teams down south with a dominating win over Corban by a final score 88-66.
The Knights, despite winning by 22 points, only had a three-point lead going into the break behind seven points from Nzube Mekkam and six from both Tre'von Cason and Collin Oestereich. The Knights shot 50% from three in the half going 4-8 and shot 46.4% from the field.

In the second half, the Knights turned on the afterburners leaving the Warriors in the dust outscoring Corban 55-36 in the half behind a blistering 56.3% from the field including hitting 7-13 from deep. Tre'von Cason had 19 points just in the second half.
The Knights were led by Cason who had 25 points, seven boards, one assist, and two steals. Jurrien Sparks had a stellar showing as well with 13 points, seven boards, five huge assists, and a block shot. To round out the Knights in double figures, Terrin Dickey had 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal. The Knights as a team shot 51.7% from the field which bested the shooting of the Warriors who ended at 37.5%. The Knights held the turnovers to a minimum tonight only having eight which is 3.3 below their average per game. The Knights forced nine turnovers by the Warriors resulting in nine points.

Two stats that are probably the most impressive for the Knights tonight were points in the paint and bench points. The Knights scored 38 points in the paint and their bench contributed half of the teams 88 total points.

Next Up
The Knights, with both wins this weekend, moved from two games back of Bushnell for the eighth and final playoff spot to tie with the Beacons at 5-9 in conference play. The Knights overall record gives them the edge over the Beacons at 10-9 while Bushnell sits at 9-11. The Knights will look to steal a win next weekend in Lewiston, Idaho against Lewis-Clark State College next Friday night at 7pm.
