Knights Defense Allows Just One Shot in Dominating Win Over Northwest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 17th, 2025

Kirkland, Wash.| Warner Pacific Men's Soccer took a very satisfying victory against the Eagles of Northwest University by a final score of 3-1.

The Knights three goal scorers tonight were from three players that you might not have expected to be the ones to score goals so far this season which makes this win even more satisfying. Linden Mauer, Tony Lopez, and Sergio Varela each scored goals tonight to shut the door on the Eagles. Linden Mauer hit his second collegiate goal in consecutive games. Mauer's goal was a quick one just over a minute into the contest to break the ice giving the Knights a 1-0 lead. Tony Lopez's goal was in the 36th minute and was assisted by Bryan Carmona. The final goal scored by Varela was put in in the 60th minute. The Eagles got their lone goal just a couple minutes after Varela's goal.

The Knights offensively put up 16 shots including nine on goal. The Eagles were very efficient with one shot which happened to be the shot that they scored on late. The Knights defense played absolute lights out making Goalkeeper, Owen Purvis' life extremely easy and simple. Purvis picked up his second win of his career in goal and also picked up his second clean sheet recorded in his career.

Next Up
