Skylar Groesbeck Scores Knights Career High in Win against River Otters

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 30th, 2025

Portland, Ore.| Warner Pacific Women's Basketball has now won three of their last four contests after defeating the Lewis & Clark River Otters tonight by a final score of 82-74.

The game overall was extremely even between both squads with the Knights pulling away in the fourth quarter. Skylar Groesbeck had a great first half scoring 15 of the Knights 47 first half points to help the Knights take a 47-39 halftime lead. The Knights in the third quarter got outscored 24-20 but then in the fourth quarter, the defense turned up for the Knights in a big way only allowing 11 points for the Otts. Down the stretch, Lewis & Clark realized they were going to need to start playing the foul game and send the Knights to the line. With under a minute left in the fourth quarter, the Otters realized they had only committed two fouls and needed to commit three more to send the Knights to the line. The Knights were able to knock down their free throws and withstood a late game turnover to take the victory.

For the game, the Knights were led by Skylar Groesbeck in a big way scoring 26 points and managed to bring down four boards. Groesbeck also added three assists and two steals to the resume this evening. KJ Custer continued to prove her worth tonight scoring 18 points and nearly securing a double-double with eight boards. Custer also added two assists and a steal. Riley Layton also played very well, nearly getting a double-double as well, scoring eight points, grabbing seven boards, and blocking two Otts shots. Kiki Brooks deserves a ton of credit as well for her performance tonight winning the hustle plays. Brooks scored five very earned points hitting an and-one layup and then drawing another foul after making the free-throw.

"Every day is an opportunity to grow as a group," Head Coach Jimmy Smith said. "I felt like today we took a good step forward with another positive assist to turnover ratio. Our team ball play looked great throughout the game and I felt like we recovered well from stumbles when they occurred. I am also really pleased with how we handled the fourth quarter. We will enjoy this moment as we get ready to prep for two tough conference games starting on Thursday."

The Knights for the game shot a hot 45% from the field shooting a blistering 10-20 from beyond the arc to help the cause. From the charity stripe, the Knights shot very well as a team making 18-23 of them good enough for 78.3%. Everything offensively was working for the Knights this evening.
