Knights Pull Out Third Win in a Row Against Walla Walla

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – December 18th, 2025

Portland, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Women's basketball team came back to conference play tonight against Walla Walla University and secured the win with a finish of 68-56.

Walla Walla whole offense was Jaylo Bello, who earned an impressive 31 points on 11-of-22 shooting including making five three-pointers. Ally Haslam did have a strong night adding a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Overall, efficiency hurt Walla Walla. After a solid start from beyond the arc in the first quarter, their shooting cooled in the second and third periods, combining to shoot this game a low 30% from the field.

It was a strong team win from the Knights this evening with Skylar Groesbeck leading the Knights with 20 points on an efficient night going 7-11 shooting while KJ Custer added 16 points. Bryten Gumke contributed nine points to the cause. Riley Layton was dominant on the glass grabbing 15 rebounds. Warner Pacific's shooting got better as the night went on with a 64% effort in the fourth, allowing them to control the final minutes and secure the win.

"The third quarter response was needed tonight," Head Coach Jimmy Smith said. "The team really dug into our 'team first' focus and delivered with extra pass opportunities as well as execution as a team on offense and defense. Late in the game, controlling the boards was huge as well. We had a team effort win in the second half, and I am very proud of this team's response."
