Redding, Calif.| The Knights Softball Program fell in a doubleheader to Simpson University in California with final scores of 6-5 and 7-3. In game one the Knights saw hope in the final inning of play, but the Redhawks battled back and walked it off in the bottom of the seventh. In game two, the Knights downfall was a seven run inning in the second.Â
Game one
Game one was a tough loss as the Knights found the lead they had been looking for in the top of the seventh.
Kili Makanani led offensively with a home run and three RBI's while also dominating on the mound. She was helped offensively by
Ashley Fritz who had one hit and two RBI's.Â
As a team the Knights played a clean defense allowing only one error. They were also dominant on the bases, stealing three bags.Â
Game two
After the heartbreaking game one loss, the Knights struggled to get the bats going in game two not scoring until the fourth inning.
Ashley Fritz led offensively with three hits and one stolen base.
Briana Munoz followed with two hits while racking up one strike out and one earned run on the mound.Â
Defensively, the Knights had two errors which led to the big seventh inning but were able to hold the RedHawks for the rest of the game.Â
Future Games
The Knights next two games will take place tomorrow against Simpson University in Redding. Game times are set for 11am and 1pm. The Knights will then have the week off before traveling to Southern Oregon University for a double header on Friday and Saturday.Â
